AUS10 Stainless Steel Blade
Forged from premium AUS10 stainless steel, the blade offers a perfect balance of hardness, toughness and long-lasting edge retention. Honed to a fine 15° cutting angle, it delivers razor-sharp precision for slicing vegetables, meats and fish with ease. The subtle hammered finish helps reduce drag and keeps ingredients from sticking, allowing each cut to glide smoothly.
The Raikou is designed with user comfort in mind, featuring an ergonomic handle made from beautifully crafted Mkuruti wood. The unique carving of the handle not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also provides a secure and comfortable grip, reducing hand fatigue during extended use. Step 1 — Rinse
Warm water and mild soap after each use. Never put your knife in the dishwasher — the harsh detergents and jostling will damage the edge and handle.
Step 2 — Dry
Towel dry immediately. Don't leave it wet or in the sink — even stainless steel can develop spots if left damp.
Step 3 — Store
Use a knife block, magnetic strip, or blade guard. Never toss it loose in a drawer — it dulls the edge and is a safety hazard.
That's it — no special maintenance, no fussy rituals. Your Shimeru knife is designed for daily use. With these three steps it'll stay razor-sharp for years.
This is the best knife Ive bought in ages. I had a Wusthof before but that was way heavier and felt clumsy in my hand. The Raikou is lighter but still feels solid, and the blade is razor sharp. My mum tried it and ordered one for herself straight away.
Ok so Ive been using this for about a month now and I’m honestly impressed. It holds its edge way better than my old Global, and the flat profile on the santoku is perfect for that rock-chop motion I use for herbs. Came in a nice simple box, no fuss. Great value for 40 quid.
Really good knife for the money, no complaints about the performance. Only thing is I wish the handle was a tiny bit thicker, it feels a little slim for my big hands. But that’s just personal preference, the blade itself is spot on and sharp as anything.
Bought this to replace a cheap set knife and it’s a massive upgrade. Cuts cleanly and stays sharp. The only reason it’s not 5 stars for me is the blade has a slight wobble when I use it on a hard chopping board, but I think that’s more my technique than the knife. Would recommend though.
Nice knife, does what it says on the tin. I’ve been using it daily for a couple weeks and the edge has held up well. My only minor gripe is it didn’t come with a guard or sheath, so I had to buy one separate. But the knife itself is a solid 4 stars.
Brilliant little knife. I was a bit sceptical at this price point but its a proper workhorse. Used it to break down a whole chicken and it glided through joints easy. The handle feels nice and grippy even when my hands are wet. Would definitely buy again.
Good quality and feels well made. I mainly use it for slicing veg and fruit, and it makes quick work of even tough squash. I would have liked it in a slightly longer size but that’s my fault for not checking dimensions properly. Still a decent buy.
So I bought this as a birthday present for my dad, he’s a keen cook. He loves it and says it cuts beautifully, but he mentioned it’s slightly heavier than he expected. He said he’s got used to it now and actually prefers it, but something to be aware of if you’re used to proper light blades.
Got this for my husband and he was genuinely chuffed with it. Straight out the box it had a proper sharp edge on it, he used it to prep veg for Sunday roast and said it cut through onions like they were nothing. Really nicely balanced too, not top heavy like some cheaper knives.
Cant believe how sharp it is out the box. Sliced through a butternut squash like it was nothing. Handle feels comfortable, not too big for my hands. For the price its a steal.
